The Manitoba Legislative Building was built between 1913–1920 and restored in 2003. The restoration program included the removal and repointing of all mortar joints. Dutchman repairs were made to deteriorated stone pieces, ledges were capped and sealed with lead flashing and the dome was sealed and reclad with new copper. The Golden Boy was relocated for restoration. The sculpture’s vertical support system was replaced with a stainless steel one. Impurities and debris were washed off the bronze surface using the JOS system and crushed walnut shells. It was regilded with 24 karat gold and hoisted in place.
