The Oodena Celebration Circle is a sacred meeting place for the Cree First Nations people. Sixty metres in diameter and 2.5 metres deep, this circular amphitheater marks the vernal and autumnal equinox and the summer and winter solstices. A series of star gazing instruments and sundials surround the central fire pit. Oodena is located at the Forks where the Red and Assiniboine Rivers meet and form the centre of the city, in Cree Oodena means ‘centre of the city.’ This is a civic ritual space.
